Job Purpose
We are looking for a hands-on HR & Payroll Administrator to join our manufacturing team. The HR and Payroll Administrator supports the HR Manager in managing all day-to-day Human Resources and Payroll activities within the manufacturing environment and supports employee relations, recruitment, payroll and HR administration to ensure smooth HR operations within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Manage and process the full monthly payroll cycle accurately and on time.
- Capture and verify employee payroll information including hours worked, overtime, leave, deductions, and allowances.
- Ensure payroll compliance with company policies and relevant labour legislation.
- Prepare payroll reports for management.
- Resolve payroll queries from employees in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll files.
Benefits Administration
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits such as medical insurance, MEIBC Benefits and other company benefits.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Communicate benefit information to employees and assist with queries.
- Liaise with benefit providers and ensure accurate employee records.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee files and HR records.
- Ensure all HR documentation is completed and filed correctly.
- Support HR reporting and maintain HR databases and trackers.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and internal procedures.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Assist with recruitment processes including job advertisements, screening CVs, and scheduling interviews, through an Applicant Tracking System.
- Support onboarding of new employees including documentation and induction.
- Ensure all new employee records are captured on HR and payroll systems.
Employee Relations
- Provide support to the HR Manager with employee relations matters.
- Assist with disciplinary processes, warnings, and documentation.
- Promote a positive working environment and ensure fair HR practices.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and company policies.
- Support HR audits and maintain accurate HR records for inspections.
- Assist with reporting related to labour compliance and HR processes.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years HR and Payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing full payroll processing on Sage Payroll Professional.
- Experience with employee benefits administration.
- Experience working on Sage Payroll Professional is ESSENTIAL
- Experience working on Time and Attendance/ Clocking Systems - Jarrison Clocking System experience will be an added advantage.
- Experience and Knowledge of Metal and Engineering Bargaining Council (MEIBC)
Knowledge
- Knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, etc.).
- Knowledge of payroll systems and HR administration processes.
- Understanding of HR best practices within a manufacturing environment.
